Equator crossing rituals are a long-standing maritime tradition…a ceremony dedicated to king Neptune, god of the sea, is a fun way to boost crew morale and celebrate the milestone on a voyage. It involves initiating those who have not crossed the line, polliwogs by those who have, shellbacks…Full video: https://youtu.be/02RnnMHvCeM #sailingadventure #equator #theequator #equatorcrossing #sailingthepacificocean #sailinglife #oceancrossing #adventure #sailing #sailboat #sailboatadventure #offshore

For sailors, crossing the equator is a huge achievement. The history of equator crossings is a rich and old tradition. As a sailor crosses the equator under sail, they shed their identity as a Polliwog and are reborn as Shellback. I thought that I had a ceremony downloaded on my computer but couldn’t find it so I had to write a ceremony from scratch (expect the rulers of the winds section. Credit: infinityyachtsales) I had so much fun with this ceremony and am feeling humbled and proud of myself

According to the old tradition, those who cross the equator for the first time must be baptized. After the ceremony, the newly baptized will be given a Crossing the Line Certificate with their name along with the name of the ship and its date. While the Captain of the ship signed it as strong confirmation. #fyp #foryou #brazil #equator #trend #seafarerslife #seamanslife #marino #marinoph #marinotiktok #atsea #seafarer #seafarertiktok #seaman #seamantiktok #seamanph #bulkcarrier
